Mission
The mission of the MCSS Guidance and Counseling Department is to provide leadership, direction, and support to our Madison County students, families, faculty and staff members in the areas of guidance curriculum, individual planning, responsive services and system support
School Counseling is an essential part of the instructional program assisting students in building a foundation for their learning and success. MCSS offers a comprehensive K-12 school counseling program that is an integral part of each school’s total educational program designed to promote the academic, career and personal/social development of all students.
- Academic guidance assists students and their parents to acquire knowledge of the curricula choices available to students, to plan a program of studies, to arrange and interpret academic testing, and to seek post-secondary academic opportunities.
- Career guidance helps students to acquire information and plan action about work, jobs, apprenticeships, and post-secondary educational and career opportunities.
- Personal/Social Counseling assists a student develop an understanding of themselves, the rights and needs of others, how to resolve conflict, and to define individual goals which reflect their interest, abilities and aptitudes.
